Golden Flyer Investment Fund Leaders attend the Indiana University Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium

I had the pleasure of traveling to Chicago with three of the Nazareth College Golden Flyer Investment Fund (GFIF) leaders to attend the Indiana University Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium (SMIFC). Our students Ryan Fisher, Sean Hallice, and Cody Antonini competed in a stock pitch competition and attended a two-day conference.

The fall 2018 conference featured three sessions of keynote speakers who are leaders in the finance industry. Our students had the opportunity to network with and learn from other colleges and universities that sponsor student managed funds.

Highlights of the trip included stops at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE). The Chicago Board of Options Exchange is the world's largest options market with contracts focusing on individual equities, indexes, and interest rates. We all enjoyed the lecture and visit to the trading floor that still operates live with option traders trading on the floor. It was reminiscent of the trading that occurred on the Wall Street Trading Floor.

Our group also took the time to walk the city and see the Navy Pier and Millennium Park.
